Lively interest in email management and cloud computing: GROUP Business Software AG looks back on a very successful CeBIT

Eisenach, 16 March 2010 –
CeBIT 2010 was an complete success for GROUP Business Software AG. GROUP Live, the new division for Cloud Computing and PaaS, attracted an extraordinary amount of attention. For GROUP Technologies, email archiving and email data protection proved to be visitor magnets.

GROUP Live is pleased to report that its CeBIT premiere was a resounding success. The Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions for dynamic operation, management and monitoring of application environments attracted a great deal of interest from numerous potential customers and also from representatives of the politics and business worlds. GROUP Live is taking a worldwide unique approach to creating cloud environments with its fully automatable and comprehensively scaleable platform for which IBM is supplying both the infrastructure and the hosting.

"Talking to CeBIT visitors confirmed that what is needed is a flexible, fast and cost-effective way to manage IT infrastructure. Providing applications as a Software-as-a-Service with as little effort as possible is therefore increasingly in demand, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses," says Constanze Zarth, Managing Director at GROUP Live. "With our solution, small and medium-sized businesses have the opportunity to access the most up-to-date infrastructures and to offer Saas-enabled software without making a high initial investment. The result is that GROUP Live's customers and staff have flexible access to application environments, providing a perfect entry into the SaaS market and a rapid ROI."

Within the framework of CeBIT, GROUP Live signed a contract with IBM to integrate IBM Lotus and DB2 in the PaaS range of GROUP Live products, making it possible to offer them as Software-as-a-Service. This is another indication of the innovation potential and the futureproof nature of this platform, features which are also reflected in the award of the INNOVATION Award for IT by the Mittelstand Initiative.

For GROUP Technologies, the Email, Archiving and Administration division of GROUP Business Software AG, email archiving and data protection were a matter of particular interest. Legislation which requires business emails to be stored for years in a tamper-proof environment and the rising flood of emails facing companies are both factors in the increasing demand for email archiving solutions. The current data protection debate also continues to ensure that there is a lot of demand for email encryption solutions. "Compliance with data protection regulations was the main topic of many conversations at CeBIT this year. However, customers were also concerned that the implementation of these regulations should be achieved economically. This is where a central email management solution such as our iQ.Suite shows its strengths, as it does not require any interaction from users," explains Andreas Richter, Director of International Marketing at GROUP Technologies.

iQ.Suite KeyManager, presented to the public for the first time at CeBIT, also found much favour and the first companies signed up to pilot projects. iQ.Suite KeyManager is an innovative solution developed by GROUP Technologies for central management of certificates and keys which will be launched on the market later this year. Particularly in combination with the email encryption solution iQ.Suite Crypt, it provides a higher level of automation and is therefore more economical, as one of its features is to allow the generation of certificates in Trust Centres and their integration in the email business processes to be comprehensively automated.
